Crozes Hermitage Les Launes, Delas Frères
Country: France Region: Rhone Valley
Varietal: Syrah Vintage: 2023
Colour: Red Style: Dry
Producer: Delas Freres
Description:
Since 1996, the venerable Maison Delas Frères, whose roots go back to 1835, has rediscovered the soul and brilliance that contributed to its renown. Under the impetus of the new management, numerous investments have been made at the production site in Saint-Jean-de-Muzols, near Tournon-sur-Rhône.
The vineyard is the largest of the northern appellations. It extends over eleven communes located in the Drôme on the left bank of the Rhône.
The grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. The harvest is 100% destemmed. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature of 28 to 32°C in open concrete vats. After racking and pressing, malolactic fermentation is carried out in tanks. A small portion of the wines is aged in oak barrels to impart a delicate woody note, while the rest is kept in tanks to preserve the fruity aromas. These wines are racked regularly to allow for the natural stabilization of their components.
Tasting Note:
Visually, the wine is a deep garnet colour. The nose is fruity, marked by intense aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and violet. This wine, full-bodied and round on the palate, has a powerful tannic structure that gives it excellent aging potential.
Food Matches: Game, grilled meats, and all types of dishes cooked in sauce.
