Dobogó Tokaj Furmint
Country: Hungary Region: Tokaji
Varietal: 100% Furmint Vintage: 2024
Style: Dry
Producer: Dobogó Tokaj
Description:
Dobogó is a small, family-run winery comprising five hectares of vineyards in the heart of Tokaj, near the famous village of Mád. The winery is owned by Izabella Zwack and winemaker Attila Domokos, who share a vision for creating fresh, vibrant, exciting expressions of Tokaji, both in the ‘aszú’ and drier styles, while remaining faithful to Tokaj’s historic reputation for excellence.
Their vineyards, planted with Furmint, Hárslevelű and Muscat Lunel on soils of volcanic origin, are farmed with biodynamic principles. Spur pruning is also used to restrict yields. Dobogó’s different vineyard sites, including the 30-year-old Betsek and Szent Tamás vineyards, are all classified as ‘First Growth’.
Tasting Note:
Golden in colour, this wine is regarded as the driest and most mineral Furmints of all Dobogó wines. On the nose, the ripe citrus notes blend with aromas of lime and peach. The palate is dry and characterful, with a continuation of citrus, peach, and peach blossom, that reflect the unique qualities of the Furmint grape.
Food Matches: Try with mildly spiced Middle Eastern or Asian foods
ABV: 14%
