Graham's 'Quinta Dos Malvedos' 2015 Single Quinta Vintage Port
Country: Portugal Region: Douro
Varietal: Touriga Nacional Blend Vintage: 2015
Colour: Red Style: Fortified/Dessert
Producer: Graham's
Quinta dos Malvedos is Graham’s principal estate and this is the first time we have ever bottled a single-estate Late Bottled Vintage Port. The consistency of quality of the wines from Malvedos is such that in Vintage declarations they form the principal component of Graham’s classic Vintage Ports.
The Quinta:
Quinta dos Malvedos has been the cornerstone of Graham’s Vintage Ports ever since it was acquired in 1890. The estate still contains large areas of traditional vineyard laid out on terraces supported by dry-stone walls, built by hand in the 18th century. The 160- hectare estate is particularly well-sited in a zone of transition from the Cima Corgo to the Douro Superior subregions of the Douro Valley, bringing together the best of both, it enjoys reasonable rainfall and abundant sunshine. The vineyard is predominantly south-facing and the ample hours of sunlight provide even and complete grape ripening, resulting in very well-balanced wines.

The Wine Advocate, Mark Squires, 16/06/2017
"The 2015 Quinta dos Malvedos Vintage Port, a single quinta, is a field blend that comes in at 113 grams per litre of residual sugar. This is rather gorgeous in its seductive, laid-back way. Velvety in texture, this elegant Malvedos is only moderately concentrated but luscious and mouth coating. Quite delicious as well, it is beautifully done. It’s not a big, powerful blockbuster, to be sure, but it is going to be a crowd-pleasing Port. Alas, you won’t get to see it right away. This single quinta will be released in eight to ten years, said Rupert Symington. By then, it should be rather accessible. It will hold for another couple of decades."
Tasting Notes:
A wine with a sublime floral essence reminiscent of bouquets of roses and violets – gorgeous. There is a discreet hint of toffee. The palate is opulent, whilst not overbearing, and reveals a mineral freshness and some peppery spice. Supremely refined, it is elegant and balanced.
