Valpolicella Classico Lena di Mezzo

Country: Italy Region: Veneto

Varietal: Corvina Veronese, Corvinone, Rondinella

Vintage: 2023 Colour: Red Style: Dry

Producer: Monte del Frá

Description:

Monte del Frà , meaning Friars Hill, traces its roots back to the 14th century when a monastery first established vineyards on the land. However it wasn't until 1988 when Eligo and Claudio Bonomo began developing the family estate into the substantial operation it has since become. Over the years, they've expanded to around 200 hectares across Valpolicella and the surrounding area, making it one of the region's significant producers. Now with the third generation - Marica, Silvia, and Massimo Bonomo - on board the focus remains on producing elegant, terroir-driven wines that continue to uphold the estate's reputation.

Tasting Note:
This Valpolicella Classico is all about wild plums, wild cherries, and crisp hedgerow fruit. There's also a sprinkle of anise, a hint of cumin, and a vibrant, almost blood-orange acidity.

Food Matches: Pasta / Risottos / Veal
